Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. RustTrust also uses localStorage, a related browser mechanism that keeps data on your device without sending it to our servers. Both are covered by this policy.

Required for the service to function. These cannot be disabled:

• Quota identifier — enforces the daily analysis and comparison limits fairly.
• Security cookie — protects against request forgery and session tampering.
• Load and routing cookies — keep requests consistent during a visit.

A single signed session cookie holds your SteamID64 after Steam OpenID sign-in. It is set only when you actively choose to sign in, is transmitted over HTTPS only, and is removed the moment you sign out.

It contains no password, no email address and no Steam credentials — only your public identifier and a signature that prevents tampering.

We collect aggregate product analytics — searches performed, popular profiles and coarse device type — to understand how RustTrust is used and to size our infrastructure. Analytics data is not used for advertising and is not sold.

We do not embed third-party advertising trackers or cross-site profiling networks.

• Favorites — the profiles you save are stored only in your browser and never leave your device.
• Interface preferences — minor UI state such as collapsed sections or recent inputs.
• Consent state — remembers your analytics choice so we do not ask again on every visit.

Clearing your browser site data removes these entries permanently.

• Steam session cookie: up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
• Quota identifier: reset daily, retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention.
• Security cookies: session only, deleted when you close the browser.
• Analytics identifiers: up to 12 months.
• Local storage entries (favorites, preferences): kept until you clear site data.

Steam avatars are proxied through RustTrust, so your browser does not contact Valve's CDN directly and no third-party cookie is set when you view a profile. If you follow an outbound link to Steam, Discord or another site, that site's own cookie policy applies.

Strictly necessary and authentication cookies are set on the basis of legitimate interest, since the service cannot operate without them. Analytics is set on the basis of your consent where consent is legally required.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing site data or by contacting us.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and may prevent analyses from running.
